Woodcote achieve dramatic fightback to win the Road Relay

Friday 14th October will go down in history as one of the greatest comebacks in WCGS House Sport. Woodcote were trailing badly after the first lap of the Road Relay but steadily closed the gaps on leading Houses, Carew and Mandeville. The strategic ploy of packing the later positions of the team with better runners clearly paid off as Woodcote picked off the other Houses one by one. Still trailing going into the last lap Woodcote produced a whirlwind performance to hit the front and accelerate away from all other Houses.

Result:

1st         Woodcote          25mins 59secs

2nd        Mandeville         26mins 06secs

3rd         Carew                26mins 49secs

4th         Bridges              27mins 31secs

5th         Ruskin               27mins 52secs

6th         Radcliffe            28mins 33secs

Welcome to the new Year 7s!

We hope that, as the new incoming Year 7s, you’re all excited about the fantastic involvement that you can have in sport at WCGS.

In particular, the Assault Course (in which everyone in Year 7 runs), you will race against one another in an effort to win points for your House!

Here you can see an image from last year’s race… we hope it inspires you to focus on victory and giving 100% when you run this year.
